Alright, my first real gaming keyboard was the Razor Lycosa. Today my G-19 arrived. Time for a little comparison of the two.
Initial looks: Lycosa: Shiny surface and flat keys for easy finger gliding. G-19: Typical bulky keys and a matte base. Tiltable LCD screen draws a lot of attention.
Installation: Lycosa: PNP (plug and play) G-19: Disc
Key press: Lycosa: easy peasy, one of the better keyboards for key pressing. G-19: Keys are more bulky and I am noticing more typos until I can get used to the layout. Macro keys on the left side are throwing my off and instead of hitting shift of tab, I hit one of the macro keys. Soft press keys make fast typing achievable.
Lighting: Lycosa: one light color (red or blue, depending on purchased product), WASD specific lighting option, option to turn off lighting. G-19: Fully customizable lighting. Any color. Not WASD specific. If you want to turn off the lighting, you also turn off the LCD screen.
Media: Lycosa: touch sensitive buttons for full media control including PC volume. Died in about a month G-19: Push button control with volume wheel and separate mute button
Macro keys: Lycosa: None. Macros are set up to any button of your choice. G-19: 12 keys set aside for macro configuration with three different profiles for up to 36 macors in total.
Cabling: Lycosa: USB cable, headphone/microphone input, one USB port (more of a USB extension since out cable plugs into a USB port in your computer.) G-19: Power cable, USB plug in, two self-powered USB ports.
Rage: Lycosa: Keys fly off easy and get lost. Lighting issues. No major pain. G-19: Have not raged on it yet, feels sturdy and I might break my hand.
Annoyances: Lycosa: large, uncomfortable wrist pad. Removable. G-19: No installation guide, just three photos. Took a while to prevent the LCD screen from switching programs every 5 seconds. Both: keyboard tilt feet too short. Used crepe to prop it up.
Wow factor: Lycosa: Touch sensitive media control with lighting options. G-19: LCD screen.
