I'm running Windows 7 Professional x64...love it, it's great and I haven't had any issues.  In fact I have been running Windows 7 Ultimate x64 for about a year before I installed Pro.

I run it at work and at home.  Good enough for production use, only complaint is intranet SSL verification issues - very specific and even then it's very particular and doesn't complain about all of them.  It's not a prominent issue and there is very little help for it though I managed to figure it out I can't remember what the fix was.

i started using windows 7 beta back in jan 09, and haven't had any major issues.  Using 64bit home premium right now, and its definitely my favorite OS so far.  Youll really find out how much you like 7 when you go back to a computer with xp or vista.  The differences will really show then!

I've been using 7 (x64)Utilmate since May - no issues EXCEPT the browser seems to do  some strange things from time to time.  For example, I might click on a link from an existing page, and whether or use same window or open in a new tab, sometimes I get the "explorer is not responding" message," close page or wait".  I'm not sure this could really be called a bug because I think it may be something I am doing, like being impatient for the page to load and clicking other things.  So far, I REALLY like 7  Cheesy

Yeah, I've had that, you should try using the included 64bit version of IE...or...you could move to Google Chrome like I did, it's alot faster!

Thanks Schlup - I will check it out for sure.  I figured since I had a 64 bit OS, the browser was 64 bit also; so you are saying it isn't?

Nope, it comes with two versions, a 32 bit version and a 64 bit version.  Just click on the start globe and type in "internet"...you should see at the top "Internet Explorer (64 bit)"

Schlup got me to switch to chrome from FireFox, and on 64bit 7, I haven't ever had a problem. I'll definitely recommend chrome!

I Installed chrome - pretty slick I must say!  So far, I like it.  Love the built in spell checker!!! I also noticed you cannot set IE 64 bit to the default browser, which is ultimately ridiculous!  I have to say, I wish someone would give MS a run for their money in the OS business; too bad IBM dropped the ball on OS/2 as that was far superior to Windows imo.

Yeah I used Chrome for a little while...I was always a die hard IE fan.  But I finally made the switch a few months ago and now I am exclusively Chrome.  I haven't looked back...I don't like their built in download manager but it's a small price to pay for the speed of surfing.

I hope Chrome is significantly better than it was at release.

[rant]
Google tried to jump into the market with the same old crap as the other folks, not a typical G move.  And here they were criticising IE and FF for not getting to virtualized applications fast enough and Chrome doesn't have them.  Their other shortfall so far is their new OS, what a pile of crap.  It's linux that runs only Chrome.  (So far).  Even as much as I dislike the Prius vibe I get from Ubuntu users (don't get me wrong, I love debian) Ubuntu still takes the cake for out of box usability in linux, and Google has pro devs.  Hell, even I wrote an OS in ASM in college that could surf the interwebs..

Maybe you should give Chrome browser another try Tonski.  I'm not talking about their OS...although I'm sure it does what it's intended to do which is to be super lightweight, run on next to no hardware and be able to access the internet and utilize cloud computing.

As for the Chrome browser I'd definitely try it out before you trash talk it, and I'm not talking about the first version that ever came out, try their newest one.

I ABSOLUTLY HATE IT. I can't play like half of my games because of compatibility issues or color issues or other issues. I have tried running them all ion compatibility modes and as administrator but that only fixed it for some of them. I miss being able to play Diablo.

On the other hand i thinks it is OK though. Nothing wrong with it other than that for me so far.

Hmmm, I haven't had ANY problems like that and I've been running it almost 2 years now.  I think something else is the cause of these issues.  Typically there's a workaround for any problems you might be experiencing, you just have to google it and do a little searching to find it.

Hahahaha  I wish Google was any help for these problems. But they always say the same unhelpful things that don't work:
"Change the compat. mode, run as admin., do this, do that, run around your room. After some more poking around i managed to get about 85% working now thankfully. But not Diablo which i have been wanting to play. SO. FREAKING. BADLY.

But after more research it turns out many people have the same problems with it and Windows 7 as i did. And the ending conclusion was that Diablo is just too old to run on windows 7. <--- Properly. I mean it runs ok and everything works it is just that like the colors are so messed up it would make your eyes bleed. ^__^

If it came with your computer there's a good chance that it's Windows 7 Premium.  You should find out whether it's 32 or 64 bit version though.

I think Steam is only made in a 32 bit version but it should still work on the 64 bit OS.

No, I just wanted to know what version he was using, there are more problems with old games/programs trying to run on 64 bit than on 32 bit, but everything is going to 64 bit, and with the next Windows OS will be offering 128 bit.  Hardware still has a ways to come though for that.
