Steam Account Thieves
Beware.
This isn't the first time this has happened to me, but probably wont be the last. Someone claiming to be employed by steam added me to their friend's list, and as soon as I accepted, they fed me a bunch of crap about how they needed me to give them my account info. This was one of the more clever attempts at it, but it still failed miserably.

A person named "Fun-Time" added me to his list, and promptly changed his name to "VAC Moderator." He then sent me this message "VAC Modertaor: Hello, The Valve Anti-Cheat Security System has detected multiple ip usage on this steam account, this may be due to public use. It is required to visit the website http://steamtech.awardspace.com, to validate ownership, this account is in danger of being shut down unless immediate actions are taken. To ensure our users safety we are entitled to request the required information in order to verify you have full control of this account. Please visit http://steamtech.awardspace.com and fill our the necessary fields and carry on with your activities. Verification is a necessity, if you do not co-operate this steam account will be disabled within 24 hours. If you have any questions about our website, leave your email and mail@steampowered.com will contact you."

Beware, valve will never ask you for your account info.

Yeah only add people to your friends list only if you really know them, to be safe and not get your Steam Account taken from you " Hijacked ". Also the steam members, like the people who work for steam will never be on steam they are not allowed to associate with other people on steam chat or friends or any Valve made games. So if there is someone with a name like "Valve Corporation" , " Steam Associator ", or anything that has to do with steam they are really not working for the Steam or Valve company, they just want to trick you. Well thats what i had to say about Steam Account Hijacking.

I hate idiots who try to steal your account. I give them one hard time if they bother me.

The same thing happened to me a while back... I just told them Nice try and F off... sorry if the language was bad. But I just hate people that have to jack someones account just to see if they left their info on the account. Just like my friend had his PSN (Playstation Network) account hacked the day after he sent it in for repairs. The guy spent $500 dollars on my friends credit card. So the PSN had agreed to the bank to return $386 for the lost money and his PSN account was blocked because of it being hacked. so he had to pay the money that was given back to him just to reopen the account. So just off of this experience he will no longer keep up his credit card number so he'll have to put it in every time. So my big don't do list to not get hacked:
1. Don't give out any information about your account not even a hint to your password.
2. Don't leave any info locked in an account. ex. Credit info
3. Try not to use any kind of password related to family, friends, pets, username and so forth. Try to mix it up with letters(Aa Bb Cc) and numbers so that your password is super hard to unlock.
4. Try to use hints that will make you rember something that is not related to yourself, or use abbrivations of words. ex. Name of Middle School- J.A.K.U.M.S

thats just what I try to think of to stop people from hacking in to an account
