Well, since I have 3 Forums of my own, I may make a suggestion. In the part of the Forum where the icons are that are actually the on and off icons, you could change them to look like guns, I have a couple for you to look at.
This is how they look now..

Now Granted, these will have to be done in HTML codes or as on my forum I can just upload the new pic i want to replace it and name it exactly as the original icon.

One last thing, the icon you will replace it with will have to be in the same size as the original as it is not here...

I'd like to see some color differences between the two.  Like leave the "new posts" one alone and make the "no new posts" one with a white background.  Just a thought, but I agree with you that those are kinda bland and basic.

There seems to be a time issue..  I am Eastern Standard, and for me it is 7:06 PM, however the forums say it is 6:06 PM.
I looked in my profile to see if I could adjust it but I think it might be in the Forum admin section.
