Can anyone find a good CPU cooler that not too exspensive, I already got a fan but it still overheats when I play MW2 so I have to find a cheap but good solution to fix the overheating, or Someone can give me something? I hope .Thnx

Is it overclocked? If not it just means you didn't apply the thermal paste correctly...you either put too much or not enough. If this is the case go get some good thermal paste OCZ Freeze is a great one, you'll need to put about (2) grains of rice worth on there right in the center (precooked). http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835202006&Tpk=ocz%20thermal

my guess is hes using amd's stock chunk of aluminum heatsink which come with that pre-applied thermal pad. Is that what you have steven?

Yeah, but those typically work decent for non-overclocked applications, he may just need to clean everything off and get some better thermal paste.

yeah i have it all stack except the cpu fan witch is not as good but alot better then the stock fan. When i dont play a game the cpu temp is around 65 F, but when i play a simple game like cs:s it goes up to about 70F, but when i play MW2 it goes up to like 85F then it shuts off my pc.

Wait, you replaced the fan on your CPU heatsink? That probably wasn't a good idea, they attach those a special way so as to maximize the heat displacement. So first I'd try redoing the thermal paste like I mentioned above. Make sure you get a clean soft rag and clean ALL of the old paste off of the processor and the bottom of the heatsink, rub it down until it's shiny, and you may have to use a little bit of elbow grease. Then reapply like I mentioned above with the two rice grains worth. Try that out and if that doesn't work you'll need to buy an aftermarket one, clean all the thermal paste off again and redo it with the new heatsink. I have the Thermaltake V1 Max and I love it but it's kinda big and kinda expensive.

Ok, so this is aftermarket, did you clean off the thermal paste and reapply correctly when you put it on?

You remember how much you put on there, it's very sensative, if you don't put enough it'll overheat, and if you put too much it will really overheat.

A drop might not have been enough, if I remember correctly I had to place about 4-5 drops on there to get enough.
