Came across this site to allow you to opt in to the new HTML 5 YouTube beta.  The advantages of it are that there is never any lag in videos, they just play smoothly and never have to buffer.  Most actually instantly fully buffer/load upon starting.

Please note approved browsers for this:
* Google Chrome
* Apple Safari (version 4+)
* Microsoft Internet Explorer with Chrome Frame installed (Get Chrome Frame)

I have seen this before, but was unable to watch the videos in HTML5 because I have FireFox.

i use chrome, but when i try to watch videos after joining that beta, they play like flash

What does that mean?  Play like flash?  I know they are still tweaking and don't have full HD enabled yet.

play like flash as in it loads as if were using the flash player.  i tried it on a 720p video so maybe ill try something low res

videos are just as laggy and slow as before, so something isnt working right with mine

Hmm, mine all load super fast...unless my internet isn't working right.  I'd say if you have over a 1Mbit download they should run fine.

P.S. Make sure you have a user account on YouTube and that you are logged in, otherwise it won't work right.  It does the beta by account only.

Tried again today.  Found out it just works with some videos and uses flash with others.  Seems to be the lower quality videos that are using html5.  But the instant loading is indeed very cool

Thanks for the info. I just signed up for the Beta also.

I usually watch several videos a day. I like parts of the Machinima channel.
