I added a new GTX 260 video card. Now there is a lot more heat coming off of the box. Do I need to do anything? Or is the extra heat ok and won't damage anything?
Thanks!

The GTX260 itself shoots a lot of heat out of the back of the card itself, so thats probably part of what your feeling.

If you download this program called HWMonitor and run it while you play a game or soemthing, it will record the max temperature your cpu, gpu, and other various parts get up to.  Play a game for a while and tell us what your CPU and GPU get to!

download here  http://download.cnet.com/HWMonitor/3000-2094_4-10793486.html

Yeah HWMonitor is a good one, also you could try SpeedFan, the download can be found here: http://www.almico.com/speedfan440.exe

Please report all your temps at idle and then also after a 30+ min gaming session.

Idle was GPU 58c, HDO 60c, Core 58c, Ambient 48c
after 45mins of play it's GPU 69c, HDO 60c, Core 68c, Ambient 57.
That was Schlups site. The other was the same.

No, seems right in line, he's using a Pentium 4 2.8GHz single core, so you can bet that it's maxed at 100% the entire time he is playing, it's kinda like running an Intel Burn test on it.  It's only going up 10 degrees and is well inside the acceptable range of temps for that CPU.  Once you get your new quad core processor in there the temps should come down a bit.

P.S. Your card is running a really nice temp.  Mine idles at 71c and when I stress test it I got it up to 102c the other night!

P.P.S. Your temps are fine Cali...I would continue to monitor them after you get the new processor in there.  You could add additional intake fans if you are concerned but your temps aren't too high.

No, but it should be automatic, when it reaches a certain temp they crank up.  I think it's because it's getting no airflow because my second card is right up against it.  Needless to say my second card stays very cool.

ah ok, theyre having a hard time breathing.  I usually force fans speed at 85%+ with rivatuner or evga precision when i play a game.  They get really loud, but stay cool >.<
