OCZ announced PCI-Express Solid State Drive (SSD) Z-Drive

OCZ announced PCI-Express Solid State Drive (SSD) Z-Drive back early April.And then Z-Drive is recapped in early September.Now OCZ announces Z-Drive officially starts shipment.

OCZ announced PCI-Express Solid State Drive


The new Z-Drive measures 195x32x127mm and weighs 500g.It comes with a PCI-Express x8 interface,four-way RAID O with suppport for Windows,Linux and Mac OS X operating system.It has a MTBF of 900,000 hours and is backed by three-year warranty.

Z-Drive retail version include e84 using SLC memory and p84 based on MLC memory. The e84 family consists of 256GB and 512GB models that deliver maximum read/write speeds of 800/750 MB/s.While P84 has 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB models.They have the same write speed of 600MB/s. 256GB has read speed of 770MB/s,640MB/s of write speed;512GB is 870MB/s of read speed and 760MB/s of write speed;1TB has 870MB/s of read speed and 780MB/s of write speed.

Yeah, that's longer than I plan on using anything!  If I could get a quarter of that out of it that would be more than acceptable!

the OCZ drive reminds me of this thing i saw a while ago http://www.engadget.com/2009/05/05/ddrdrives-ram-based-ssd-is-snappy-costly/

the Z-Drive is probably exponentially better though xD
