Beginning at 6:00 pm Pacific time Thursday February 4th, we will be performing software maintenance on some Steam servers. We expect the resulting downtime to last three hours at most, putting the end of the window at 9:00 pm Pacific time.

Yeah, but it's during their peak usage.  Couldn't they do this at off peak for them which is around 5am?

blizzard was always smart about that.  When they took down wow servers for maintenance, it was tuesday mornings at 3am or so.  Valve employees must not want to work late hours >.<
