The collaboration between publisher Activision and Monster Beverage Company brings us more than just Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2-branded energy drinks--it reveals when one of the game's downloadable content packs is due.

That map pack has a "planned release [of] Spring 2010," going by the specially marked "Monster Assault Energy" four-pack that just arrived here at Shacknews.

Whether the referenced map pack is the first downloadable add-on for the anticipated November 10-due shooter remains to be seen--developer Infinity Ward has promised "at least" two maps packs, both of which will hit Xbox 360 before PC and PlayStation 3.

Unfortunately they will never have the aimbots and other hacks under control.  The whole IWNET platform is not friendly to those who want to play without hackers.  At the very minimum they need to allow players to kick other players by vote, that would help out immensely.  Right now the hackers are running free completely unchecked except by VAC which is a joke unless you're using a really old publicly available hack.

Maybe the "OnLive" system will be hacker free...we'll have to see but there will be monthly fees for that.

I am waiting patiently for any new maps/weapons/camo/spec ops missions that the next DLC will include. If I remember correctly, it should be made available for the XBox community sometime in March and the PS3/PC 30 days later.

I try not to be too cynical with IW with regards to the security of the MW2 software. No amount of protection will prevent hackers from corrupting the code to suite their purposes. Yes, the hackers/cheaters should be banned from any public matches if caught. Yes, IW should have incorporated a dedicated server capability into the MW2 software so that the people playing on the server can be monitored more fairly and swift justice dealt to those infringing on the rules.

Perhaps a dual server mode (dedicated or IWNet) would have been preferential to just a single type (IWNet). The user can select which mode they want and play accordingly.

Yes, I have played on games where someone was using some type of hack (aimbot/ESP) for an unfair advantage but it is during these that I make it my mission to put a 'hurting' on the player and single him/her out for kills. I make it hard for them to get any large killstreak.

As far as VAC, it seems hit or miss. I know that they use a 'delayed ban' system where the cheater is banned several days/weeks later. This is so that all the people using the identified cheat are caught/banned and not just the first ones to use it.

My son was recently banned by VAC/STEAM for some MW2 cheats (ESP/AIMBOT) that I know he used. I let him know that he would be caught and he seemed to think that the VAC system was useless. Well, the system worked and his MW2 account is no longer functional. He now has to set up a new Steam account and spend another $60 for the game so that he can play. Let's see how long it takes before he strays again.

My favorable experiences on MW2 far outnumber the bad. I have made many new friends and enjoy talking with others that share my love of the game.

Fully agree with this statement!
