I like Asus, but I've had 2 of their motherboards fail on me in the past 6 years.

Yeah, I'd pick up an Asus if I were you...but don't get their cheap one, get a mid-range or high-end one...it's your motherboard after all, spend a little money on it.

That's a good one, you can find it $21 cheaper at Tiger in this case though...

Yeah that looks like a good motherboard. Ive never been a fan of mb's with integrated graphics though, for some reason.  If he gets an ATI card is there a way to do some sort of hybrid crossfire between the integrated and discrete chips?

I have read over the specs and this motherboard sounds impressive, although I have never purchased one with integrated graphics.

The Hybrid CrossFireX technology sound like it is capable of utilizing an video card plugged into one of the available PCI Express 2.0 x16 slots and combining it into a SLI-type configuration.

From the ASUS website:
Hybrid CrossFireX™ Support
Boosted Performance with onboard GPU and discrete graphics card
ATI Hybrid CrossFireX™ technology is a unique hybrid multi-GPU technology. It takes your gaming experience to the next level boosting PC performance by enabling the chipset’s integrated graphics processor and a discrete GPU to operate simultaneously with combined output for blisteringly-fast frame rates unleashing the graphics performance

Just ensure your video card is compatible with the Hybrid CrossFireX technology.

The mother boards isnt to big of a issue but the man thing i wana know is what you gonna be running video card wise? Are you staying with the green monster? Or are you riding the red tide?

If you want top of the line here's what you want...
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131383

I don't know why you keep picking boards with AMD northbridge.  If you're gonna run an nVidia card then get an nVidia northbridge.

Yeah, I saw that one but didn't figure you'd want to spend $160 on the board.  This is a great one though!
