Hello everyone.

I am a retired U.S. Navy Chief Petty Officer (hence my player name of NavyChief). I served from 1984 - 2004 throughout various commands located around the Pacific Ocean. My tours on ships included the USS Kinkaid (DD-965, Destroyer, San Diego), USS St Louis (LKA-116, Amphib, Japan), USS Dubuque (LPD-8, Amphib, Japan), and the USS Wadsworth (FFG-9, Guided Missile Frigate, San Diego). My shore tours included Military Police (Sasebo, Japan) and Afloat Training Group Middle Pacific (Pearl Harbor, HI). My retirement ceremony was held on the USS Missouri (BB-63, Battleship) in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.

My job was as an Electronic Warfare Technician (EW) and my avatar is the rating symbol. This rating was known as the "Defenders of the Fleet" and our job was to find the enemy ships/aircraft/missiles and render their sensors ineffective while preserving the integrity of our own sensors. Late in 2003 this rating was merged with the Cryptologic Technician Technical (CTT) rating and is therefore gone. Due to my seniority I was able to retire as an EW and not a CTT.

Some of my awards include the Navy Commendation Medal, Navy Achievement Medal (3), Good Conduct Medal (5), National Defense Service Medal (2), Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, Kuwait Liberation Medal (Saudi Arabia), Kuwait Liberation Medal (Kuwait), Expert Rifle Medal, Expert Pistol Medal, as well as numerous other non-medal awards.

As you can see by my tours, I spent a little over 9 years stationed overseas in Japan. I loved my experiences there and that is where I met my wife. We have two children (girl-9 and boy-12).

I currently work at the University of Texas at Arlington as a PC Specialist II.

I love playing FPS games and have been playing them for over 10 years. My current favority is Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. I try to play 1 or 2 games a night if possible and more on Friday and Saturday evenings. I also play Team Fortress 2 a little.

My second genre would be strategy. I like playing the Command and Conquer series but have never done so online.

I am looking forward to participating on these forums and getting to know everyone.

You see on the left side of the screen there is a little up and a little down button under everybodies names.  Those are props, if you like something somebody said give them a prop...

Now everybody can only click this once for +1 BPN Prop, but since I am Master Admin I can grant more than that, I have never given more than one before but that post deserved 5!

Now I get it. I was wondering what the red and green arrows were for.

Thanks for the honor of receiving the first +5 mark.  Smiley

BTW, my points still show a '0'. Does it take a while to update?

Welcome NavyChief.  I look forward to running with you sometime EWC.  Hopefully you'll feel at home here with us, we've got members from quite a few walks of life, including active duty, retired, and former service members.  Who knows, maybe you served with someone during your enlistment.

Again, welcome aboard.

Guard: Surrender, Assassin, and I promise you a quick and easy death.
Assassin: I could promise you the same, but it would be a lie.

Cooking tips???

You do NOT want cooking tips from me. I could burn water if it was possible. The only thing I can make is a mean PBJ sandwich. If the box doesn't have explicit instructions - then I can't make it.

My wife handles all the cooking in our house. I have never had to cook for myself. The military provided me with all the meals I could ever need and the variety/taste was excellent.
