On the same system with latest drivers, the GTX480 scored 734 in the DX11 Unigine Heaven benchmark, while the 5870 scores 783.

So far we have a very good idea of GTX480 specs:

CUDA Cores: 448
Memory bus size: 320-bit GDDR5
Memory clock: 1600MHz (?)
Memory size: 1280MB
Shader clock: 1250MHz
Core clock: 625MHz
ROPs: 48
TMUs: ≤64

GTX480 and 5870 results in Unigine Heaven

Theres a video on youtube of the 480 outperforming the 5870 on the Heaven benchmark, where are you getting your numbers from?
