I forgot what a good headset could do for you in an FPS game.  Over spring break, I had an itch to order something new.  The Logitech Digital "Precision" Headset I was using was very uncomfortable and practically worthless.  The bass would just overwhelm me during games, and I'd get minor headaches from them squeezing my head.

Anyways, I found these on newegg: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16826249034

It seems to be a semi-old design, but they get good reviews.  I tried them out for one Ground War match today (COD:MW2), and it made a huge difference!  Without all the bass, it's way easier to tell what's going on around me.  It's also a much more comfortable headset, so my ears won't be begging me to rip them off after a half hour (like the Logitechs).

Just thought I'd let you all know...   Wink

Oh yes, the right headphones make a large difference (both in comfort and enjoyment). I like headphones with the large earphones that completely cover the ear - this helps to reduce external noises. Also, headphones that are too snug will tend to hurt the ear cartiledge very quickly. I can easily wear mine for several hours with no discomfort at all.

Agreed, i had a set of steelseries Siberia headphones that just hurt my ears after hours of gameplay, especially when i wore glasses.  I used to have to take my headset off between games because of the soreness Shocked  Ive since bought Bose around ear headphones , and the uncomfortable problems are a thing of the past.  I wear these things for hours on end, and they sound great too!

When I would play in CAL and TWL matches for CS Source, as well as now when my wife is with me in the computer room I use my BeyerDynamic DT 990's with the Logitech Desktop USB Microphone to play. Talk about great sound reproduction with those BD's!

If your interested in either:

That is what they feel like, they are really comfortable and they never got to the point where they were bothering me by wearing them. The headphones I used to use (Simple Sony Wraparounds) would hurt my ears something fierce, these BD's are like heaven for your ears! And the sound reproduction just gawd!!! LOL

I had thought about getting a desk microphone and using my nice headphones, but I decided against it.  A gaming headset is just too convenient   Cool

My nice set is a pair of Sennheiser HD590's.  They're probably in a realm just under your BD's.

I never used headsets until a friend suggested I try them for CSS as he claimed you could hear the enemy walking around better.  I bought a set of triton AX360 5.1 Dolby headset and never looked back!  The sound is amazing and I hear everything except the girlfriend yelling down the stairs at me (maybe that isn't so bad LOL)  These are great quality IMO but they are a bit on the pricey side......mine were about $150 2 yrs ago.

I went with these because I can use them with the consoles as well but truth is, they have never been unplugged from my PC yet!
