Scheduled Network Maintenance

This e-mail is to inform you of maintenance that needs to be preformed on the network. We are planning to take the network down for approximately 1 hour on 4/27/2010 from 1:00am to 2:00am central time. We have recently signed a contract to add another bandwidth provider (hurricane electric) into our mix. Not only are we adding this provider but we are upgrading our backbone network to allow redundant paths from each switch to redundant edge switches. This new setup will allow better internal performance between switches and allow multiple network failures to occur without interruption of service. This downtime will be used to move all currently running switches over to the new setup. The original plan was to move everything dynamically without any downtime over the last couple days but has resulted in some brief interruptions in service. To prevent further interruptions we have decided to go ahead and schedule the maintenance. We apologize for the problems this has caused.

Note: my guess is that this will bring our pings down a bit on everything.
