Recently I have been noticing that my Steam is crashing quite frequently. I will tell it to launch CoD: MW2 and it will just crash. I opened the My Games tab in Steam and it shows that CoD was like re-downloading or something. And if i try to do anything, be it closing the window, trying to change tabs, open my friends list, etc. it just crashes. Is something wrong with my steam?

One a slightly off topic thought I also just downloaded BioShock and after spending like 3 days updating it finally finished. Great i thought i can finally play it. Wrong EVERY time i try to launch it i get the "BioShock.exe has stop working. Windows is searching for a solution." Is this related or something completely different? Either way anyone else have this problem or a solution?

Try getting off of steam run it as administrator and do the same for the game.

Also try doing the "verify cache integrity" within Steam for all your games.  If something isn't right it will delete that portion of the game and redownload it.  You should also probably run the defrag within Steam.

Nope nothing worked. And after google searching it it seems like everyone has this problem with it... And no one has any answers. All they say are to try to run it as an Administrator.

Keep up the search, there is SOMEBODY that has a solution, just might be hard to find.  At least that's typically the outcome I find.

Right click on game and go to View downloadable files, Then go to Local files and click on Verify integrity of game cache and do that. Also in updates as well go to defrag and do that as well. Also Top left of the games menu go to files and click on check for Steam client updates. You may have to run the first 2 several times. I had the same problem and did this and it fixed the problem.

I guess I will give it a few more tries. I only tried each once so i guess there is no harm in trying multiple times. If it worked for you i guess I will just have to keep at it.

Hmmmmm after some more research and forum jumping i managed to find SOMETHING useful. I might need to update all of my video and audio drivers. If none of this works I'm going to be a bit upset.

More than likely Steam is trying to load the game but the error is due to a driver. Update video and sound card drivers along with looking for a Direct X update. If this doesn't help solve the problem then you might want to look into software running on your computer in the background disrupting it. Whether it being an incompatable program or Malware. Hopefully you have a virus scanner otherwise there are many free ones you can use to verify that your system is clean.

Alright so i uninstalled steam and reinstalled. Just because beta wouldn't respond or do anything. So all you will see me on for a while will be L4D2. and maybe CoD if i feel like waiting hours for it to download.

You should start all the downloads when you are going to bed, they'll be ready for you when you wake up!

hahahahahaha i wish. i have such a terrible download rate that i have to do that and i have to let it download at while I'm at school. And sometimes if I'm lucky and it doesn't freeze, it will be done. If you are wondering my download rate is around 60-300KB/s. Normally on the lower end. And that is the best i can get for the area i live in for some reason i cannot upgrade my bandwidth.

Well start download when you go to bed, then it will have all night and most of the day while you are at school.  Plus you'll be downloading in off-peak times so it should go a little faster.
