Ok this fixxed a lot of problems for me. If you take your cd key provided by Steam and enter it into the EA downloader you can then download the game from there. It gives you all the files and the updater that Steam doesn't have. I was having a problem with my Hit box in game. Removing the steam version and installing this one fixxed this for me. Hope this helps you guys. Takes time to download and install but in my opinion it was worth it.

it is but when you buy the game on dvd and install the game it doesnt put it in steam. so i had to add the game as a non steam game. you can put pretty much any non steam game on to steam and steam will show you're playing that game.

BC2 isn't part of the Steam cloud, EA has their own stats servers that save everything for you.  Steam just updates it when needed, like every other game on Steam.  I know you can add non-steam games but it never works for me.  Even if it did, could you still access the in-game steam overlay?

Yeah, I'm not sure about that, I know it shows that you are playing a non-steam game...might show the game name too...can't remember.
