Today they announced that Circuit City Corp has filed for and been granted bankruptcy.  This means they are closing the doors on all 600+ of their stores.  They will be having closeout sales beginning tomorrow (Saturday).  I'm going to see if I can get any super awesome deals!  Bringing the credit card too...watch out!

I might have an AGP video card before long that I will be getting rid of.  I don't know if I remember the specs on it though...I'll have to do some research.

See, this is a bad thing for where I live...

Circuit City is the only remaining competitor (or shall I say WAS) to Best Buy. Now that CompUSA, Media Play and Circuit City are closing their doors, I am getting that bad feeling I am going to see some more price gouging from your un-friendly local Best Buy. I like Best Buy, don't get me wrong, but I don't like some of their prices...and I really don't think that Circuit City leaving the stomping ground is going to help improve the pricing. I hope that I can at least find a good deal, that I can afford, on a nice 1080p 42" TV. But we will see.

My professional opinion (because I deliver them all effing day long) check Amazon.com, about 85-90% of the ppl I deliver to get their tv's from amazon. They have great prices and free shipping.

OK let me know. I am getting a car on the road next month so I won't be buying one like I had planed right away. It will be nice to be mobile again.

Don't be fooled by this sale.  I saw back when Sun Appliance went out of business, and we went over to one of their stores.  Product was marked UP 300% and then had a  % off sale sign on it.  They keep it at a level for a while then raise the percent for a few more weeks, and so on.

They are trying to get as much money as they can, and they will have stuff marked down in price more than what  you can pay somewhere else.

What is funny is people will be fooled and buy it.

Check your prices online and have them written down before you go over there.

Well I went to their "sale" and Cajun is partially right.  They raised prices on everything effective December 27th 2008.  Which means they knew they were going out of business right after the Christmas sales were over.  They didn't raise prices by 300%...somewhere closer to 20%-30%.  They were offering 10% off today, probably will change based on their stock levels.  Based on what I saw there today, I anticipate them being out of all the "good stuff" they the end of the day tomorrow.  They'll probably go to 20% off by next weekend but there won't be anything left to buy that's worth anything by then.  I bet they had their highest sales day in history today...it was packed!

I think Circuit City is just taking a break for a little bit they are trying to figure out a way to get some cashflow but they can't with the way our economy is going right now... they need to close up and think about their planes in the future....

That's what i think they are going to do...

Oh, so you think they will get into the airline industry then?  I'm sure they are done in the electronics industry but they may have a future in high tech flights!

I went to the "sale" they had here. The sign said everything 25% off. I went to Wal-Mart before hand looking for a copy of windows xp. While I was there, I checked the prices on ethernet cables as I am adding another computer to my router. Found a 14 ft cable for $10 at wal-mart. Same cable was $13 at office depot. Went to Circuit City last, with their "25% sale", and the same exact cable was $29 after the 25% off. What a rip...

Yet the idiots will pay it because it is supposedly 25% off and they didn't do their homework to know any better.
