Hey everyone, I was thinking of getting a new verizon phone since my 2 year plan is up and I get a new phone with $50 off. I was looking and the HTC incredible looked to be legit! This thing is fully loaded! Here are some pictures of it also -- http://mashable.com/2010/04/13/htc-incredible-specs/ Here are some specs if you have not seen it yet: 1GHz Snapdragon CPU, 8 GB internal memory, microSD memory card support, an 8-megapixel camera with autofocus and video capture, and a 3.7′-inch, 480×800 pixel OLED screen. Everything else you expect from a top smartphone is there, too — Wi-Fi, GPS, BluetoothBluetooth, 3G, Accelerometer, and it runs the latest version of AndroidAndroid, 2.1. I wanted to know people's thoughts on if I should get it and if anyone has heard of any problems with it. It has only been out for a month or so now. Thoughts would be appreciated!! Thanks everyone! - Ryan (xxsobesxx)

ill look into it and get back to you with my opinion.
--------------------------------- After checking it out.
Why would you suggest the palm pre plus? The only thing I can see is the keyboard and maybe battery life(didnt do a lot of research yet). Just want to see why you think the the palm is better.

meh avoid anything from palm in my opinion. Thats a sinking ship. Android on the other hand is really taking off right now, and the incredible is the top phone out right now. Its basically a nexus one with HTC's Sense ui. The thing about android phones though, they get replaced faster than fashion fads. i.e, in the past 6 months or so, the top tier phone has gone from the Hero, to the Droid, the the Nexus one, to the Incredible, and in a month the best phone will be the EVO 4g from Sprint ( which if you can switch to sprint from verizon, the EVO is a BAMF phone!!) but if you have to stick with verizon, the incredible is....welll... incredible!!
I myself have an HTC hero with sprint. Its got the same UI as the incredible, but different android version. Biggest flaw with my phone is it can be slow sometimes, but the Incredible has a much faster processor and a faster version of Android, so im guessing it doesnt have any of the problems i have.

Doesnt look like I will be heading to sprint since my dad gets a discount from his company. Gotta love a parent who works for for a cell phone tower company :-) Also, I was just talking to my buddy about the out-dating. He has the Moto Droid and he is pissed he didnt wait a couple months to get the incredible. It is crazy how fast tech stuff gets better. It is sweet how fast people can improve, but that hurts my wallet :-) Still looking forward to Schlup's opinion on the Palm pre. It is cheaper, but the real reason I want the incredible is because it has a 8mpix camera. I dont have a digital camera that good(I think mine is a 3mp) and I am going to puerto rico this summer and want some nice pictures without dishing out money for a new camera and a new phone.

I like the Pre because it's on the WebOS platform which is very nice, works very smoothly and is super fast. The camera is only 2MP though so if you want it for that then this isn't the phone for you but the Pre also has video camera to record video! As for Palm being a sinking ship they were just purchased by Hewlett Packard, and if you think HP is a sinking ship then you are sadly mistaken. Palm needed a large company to bankroll their development and now they have it!

Maybe when I get my new phone in another 2 years, palm will have something real sweet. Until then, my mind is set. HTC incredible comes into my home on May 31st. I have to pay my parents the $792 for the 24 months of the $33/month data plan, so I have to work 2 more weeks to get that money. I think the data package should be around $15 but with all the free apps and stuff I cant go wrong! Thanks everyone for giving me your opinions, it was good to search around other brands than the droids to compare! What would I do without you guys!

$33/month? That's crazy high! I don't care if your dad is getting a discount or not...that's way too much to pay for the data portion of the plan. It would be cheaper for you to switch to Sprint and do their unlimited data + voice than to pay that much. Just my 2 cents...

Yeah for me its $10 extra for unlimited phone/text then the $33 for internet, gps, and all that stuff. I know its outragous but I am surprised on how many people actually pay this! So really I pay now just the $10 but I will be paying $43. Its a rip, but I figure ill use it enough.

Well hold your horses...this just in...the incredible killer! Motorola Shadow Spotted in the wild, get your 4”+ Screen phone on Verizon! After seeing the image for this phone, I’m sure that we all collectively agree that this is going to be the sexiest device of this summer. Codnamed “The Shadow”, this device from Motorola is rumored to be carrying some impressive specs. Here’s a list of the very impressive rumored specs: 4.1" TFT WVGA screen Texas Instruments OMAP 3630 45nm Processor clocked at 720 MHz Android 2.2 by launch possible, otherwise Android 2.1 with Moto BLUR 8 MP camera 720p recording 1080p output via HDMI port ~9mm thick (For reference, iPhone 3GS is 12.3mm) Releasing in July Pics and Video Comparison with DROID CPU after the break. New HTC incredible phone. Pictured on this manual is the Android 2.1 with Moto BLUR. But according to the poster on HowardForums, this handset should have full Adobe Flash 10.1 support by launch. This leads me to believe that since Google requires Android 2.2 as the minimum requirement for Adobe Flash 10.1 on smartphones, this handset will ship with Android 2.2 “Froyo”. For anybody who wants to know about the performance watch the video below which compares the TI OMAP 3430 CPU (underclocked to 550 MHz) that is used in the Motorola DROID vs the TI OMAP 3630 CPU (720 MHz). The TI OMAP 3630 uses a faster clocked GPU that helps it achieve 80% better performance on the graphics benchmark.

Sounds like Motorola's successor to the Droid. From that info it seems to beat out the Incredible, but i don't know how it will contend against the EVO 4g. Id probably take an EVO anyway because in my mind, HTC > Motorola.

I ordered my Incredible today and I knew it would not come until June 22nd-ish. I was fine with that. I walk out of the store happy with my purchase only to find the store RIGHT NEXT DOOR had a incredible in stock for $199 with out a rebate! I was like holy poop this is sweet stuff! I walked literally 5 mins later back to verizon and asked to return my incredible that I have to wait for. Well my luck is you CANT!!!!! The stupidest thing ever. You cant return without having the incredible in your hand..........THATS LITERALLY INCREDIBLY STUPID! If you buy anything at any other store and they dont have it in stock you can cancel your order even after they sent out for it even if you have to pay for the stoped shiping! I was even willing to pay the $30 for restocking fees, which is also stupid since they didnt have it in stock, they also didnt let me do that. Verizon is so so so so stupid! I will find myself calling up customer service tommorow and complaining until I get the phone for free!
I know you can do this for a fact because at gamestop(for example) you can preorder a game with full money payment. If you dont want it, you can go back later and get your money back. Maybe not cash, but store credit. Which would be fine in my opinion because I could use that $320 I put down on my phone for the monthly payment. Uhh stupid stuff like this makes me angry some times. To bad verizon coverage is so good or I would leave.
If anyone agrees with me on you should be able to return let me know, or even if you dont think so. The people at the store couldnt give me a straight answer why they couldnt take it back.

Yeah, you should be able to cancel the order since it is back-ordered there shouldn't be any cancelled shipping charges because they haven't and can't ship it out until the 22nd-ish. What you have here is a greedy salesman that doesn't want to lose his commission on the sale. Did you talk to the store manager about it?

That's ridiculous. Somebody wasnt filling you in all the way. You just have to argue more and make a scene. Talking to a manager might help too

I would try calling their customer service and talking with a rep, then talking to their supervisor and maybe the sups supervisor. That might help. If it doesn't go back to the store and ask to speak with the regional director or at least get a name and number. I'd try being nice about it until they give you nowhere else to go as far as a higher ranking person in the company.
