I brought this up at the meeting last night but in about 2 months I'm goingto builing a new desktop. My budget is $2000, I prefer intel and nvidia, I only need the rig I have keyboard monitors mouse, so I only need the computer itself. I've been a little dated on technology so any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I don't agree with either of these setups, but I won't put one together until he's a little closer to purchase time. Sniper, post something here when you are about 1 month out from build and I will put one together that spanks the pants off both of those systems for cheaper!

Dell owns Alienware, and Dell basically dropped their XPS gaming line to sell more Alienwares. Prices for Alienwares have also dropped a lot compared to previous years to compete more with custom pc sites like ibuypower and cyberpower. I don't agree with either of these setups, but I won't put one together until he's a little closer to purchase time. I agree with schlup on this one. But dont even post a month ahead. When your ready to buy it, post, and we can all scower newegg for deals!! It will likely be a PC close to what Monkey_Grill posted, maybe a different video card ( GTX290 possibly ) or different HDD setup ( Samsung spinpoints are the fastest big drives http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822152185&cm_re=samsung_spinpoint-_-22-152-185-_-Product )

and because sarcasm is so hard to translate over the interwebz, the alienware laptop was a joke.
Personally, if I had 2k to spend on a rig I'd blow a good chunk of it on the i7 980x....6 cores and 12 threads of goodness.

Don't get your feelings hurt, I don't want to have to start calling you Captain Insano! LOL. It's not a bad build Fallen but you posted way too early and didn't spend enough time researching it.
