I would recommend dropping that down to about 15 to 10 minutes rather than 60 if you can, cause if you were to try to talk to someone, to find out that they left like 30 minute ago... then yeah... my only thing... plus it also helps to know who is "actually" on...

You can tell...the whole row now turns pink if there is a new reply under that heading. You can also click on "Show unread posts since last visit" which is located at the top of the screen to the right of your avatar picture.

Ok, I change the background color to a little bit darker blue so that it can more easily distinguished if there is a new post.

Even if you are using Firefox you still have to hit F5 to refresh the page. Also, there have to be some new posts or topics that you haven't yet looked at before the blue tint will come.
P.S. Delete all your temp internet files and cache as well.
