The patch is out today. Its going to fix a lot of bugs. Not all of them, but a good number. Treyarch had to split the patch in two to get it out faster.
• Free Multiplayer Map! The tide is out and the sun is high – this daytime version of Makin sheds new light on the battle! • Fixed exploits that allowed for power ranking servers. • Fixed router related server authentication errors. • Fixed HTTP Redirect functionality for downloading mods • Fixed sound device crashes stemming from Emulated Sound Devices • Fixed exploit which allowed players to color their name tag. • Hits now register properly while targeted player is leaning. • Enabled /cg_drawfps in multiplayer games. • Fixed command-line +connect functionality • /cg_fov no longer resets to the default value in between matches. • Dedicated servers automatically reconnect to the Master Server in case the Master Server resets. • "Accept Game Invite" is bound to its default key, F10. • Implemented fix for attempting to join password protected servers from the server browser. • Fine tuned Bolt-Action Rifles for balance. • Screenshots no longer overwrite each other. • Fixed various multiplayer map related issues and exploits.

No more power servers. At least I made prestige 10. Hopefully the one server I play on a lot is still around.

They may or may not be working on a CSS 2...Valve is very hush hush about it and I wouldn't expect it out for a couple of years. On to the main problem. I am getting an Error 1906.Failed to cache package C:\Windows\Installer\49f3c9.msi. Error: -2147286775. Contact your support personnel. I researched this and found the following MS site with help... http://support.microsoft.com/kb/236874However, I have no idea as to how this will help me or how to resolve it myself. Please assist!

Ok, so here's some more info on the situation. If you get the error that I got you have to insert the disc, uninstall CoD5, then reinstall CoD5, then patch to 1.1. Now here's the important part...if you got the same error I got it means that you got one of the bad patches that are floating around just like I did. I went to a different site and downloaded the patch and everything works correctly now. I am in the process of uploading the good patch to our webserver so that everyone in BPN can be assured they are getting a good patch and not something that is going to cause them to have to uninstall the game and go through everything I went through. The patch will be listed on the home page later tonight (in about 2 hours) for download for everyone who doesn't already have it.

If you uninstall, won't you lose your soldier and stats?

Good question Yank...it wasn't a concern for me first off because I have all that stuff backed up. However, when uninstalling it asks if you want to uninstall, you click yes, then it askes if you want to delete all your controls, content, etc. and I clicked no. That saved my stuff and I didn't have to use the backups.
P.S. The patch is up on the homepage!

The 1.3 patch is now out. Please remember when updating this patch, some servers will not be available until they are updated as well.
/record and /demo enabled in MP. Server Log File improvements, including: Team Names on Kill loglines. Round Win and Loss. Timestamps. Additional action logging (took flag, destroyed headquarters, planted bomb, etc). Improved sound initialization for Vista - fixes loss of sound for audio devices set higher than 16 bit 48000 Hz. Screenshots no longer overwrite each other. Tweaked autobalance on select game modes

Yeah, I wish I would have looked to see that they don't have the 1.3 Linux patch out before I upgraded tonight. Now I just have to wait, good think I didn't upgrade on all my computers.
