Uses the new frostbite engine. Looks a little cartoonish, but pretty good still. http://www.battlefield.com/1943/Crunch

It should be.
Battlefield 1942 started it ALL. It was the first FPS game that was considered realistic with a large world that had land, sea, and air vehicles along with weapons to counter each. They made a world where you could play anything you wanted in FPS games. To go back to 1943 with a fully destructable environment is nothing short of awesome. The FPS gaming world has wanted something like this for years.
BUT, its an EA game, so it may not turn out very well.

Planes would look fun to fly, but EA-- game's junk already.

You never know though. EA has a bad rep and hurting financially. They may NEED to make an awesome game up front.

I don't know. There's just something about the name 'EA', that it will never be a "good" company.

IDK...the game looks pretty sweet in the videos I have seen...but it almost looks like a knock off of CoD5 IMO.

I read an article about this a few weeks ago, and what it said was that the game will be made "cartoonish" to appeal to the younger crouds, while still carrying the action the adults like. The characters are supposed to resemble that of AA in some features (which I didn't like), so I prolly wont be playing it. But the trailer does have nice graphics and action.

Yeah, I think I saw that article too...however, I read another article that said they were going to shy away from the cartoonish look after all.

I just don't like the chaos of everyone running around these big open areas with bullet and bombs flying everywhere. I do like the Rainbow 6 series because it seems that you have to play a more calculated game.

You obviously haven't played an FPS game in a while. There are objectives that have to be completed normally and you have to play a calculated game otherwise you will definatly lose!

I watched Covelle playing COD5. Still chaotic. What I'm saying is you basically run around corners pretty much blindly and hope nobody is there, etc. You can't slowly sneak into a room because someone is probably chasing you already. RB6 you throw in a flashbang or something and slowly clear one room at a time, etc. you peak around corners rather than just charging through guns blazing. Didnt mean to hijack the thread.

Pretty much every FPS is a run a shoot. Currently, there's no real "war" in a game. People really don't strategize a game, they just come from where ever and shoot. There's no real line to hold.
I think game creators need to bring something new to the table.

I love this thread, especially now that ity has opened a bit. I love the BF series because it was pretty much the first to incorporate all aspects of combat, from vehicles, to weapons, to various angles of attack/defense. With that said, I also miss the strategy based team warfares such as SWAT, and RB6. The problem I found with the strat games is, there were too many rogues that went in CS style and would get the whole squad killed. As well as CS, in scrims, always a cowboy that tries to run and gun, get the whole team shot up. Where as with the BF series, everyone pretty much picks a "duty" and does it the whole match. Not always, but mostly. And the consistency is a wonderful thing to be able to count on when you plan your next move. The downside of the BF's (and sometimes a good thing) is hardly anyone uses voice to communicate, if they communicate at all.

When BPN used to play BF2 and BF2142 hardcore we used TS to communicate...made it for a much better experience with higher success levels. That being said, I wasn't a huge fan of the BF series but I do completely agree with the teamwork aspect and (hopefully) being able to depend on your team for certain things!

I played about 15 minutes of Bad Company when the beta was released on the Xbox 360...you're right, it was pretty good.
