For some reason the last day or 2 Black Ops keeps crashing on me. I downloaded the new drivers that were released on the 17th for the 5870 but that did not work. I did notice that today my graphics were lowers to the baseline for black Ops and I did have it set at 1680x1050 and have since I got the game with no problems whatsoever. When it locks up I tend to get a like bleaching out of colors and also the last view I saw but normal. Sometimes if I leave it it will start fine again but that was just one time and of the 5 or 6 times it has done this I have had to restart the computer. Any ideas? Thank you for any help given in advance. Oh by the way it does not seem to be doing it in any other game.

The crashing came with the new patch I have the same problem but it doesn't happen that often but I have looked at the bo forums and a lot of people are having this problem and I am sure they will fix it soon.

Getting sick of this, having to reboot 6 or more times a day. It's total crap that they would be STUPID ENOUGH to release something that they knew would cause problems. I was running great before the patch. Does anyone know when the repair patch for this is coming out?

Sir, open up Steam and go to Library> Right Click CoD Black Ops> Properties> Local Files Tab> Click Verify Integrity of Game Cache.
Make sure all your drivers are up to date (video, chipset, audio). If that doesn't work, try reinstalling the game.

Don't waste his time, it's a patch bug, nothing other than that. Sir, sometimes they don't get to test the patches very well before they send them out, so they probably didn't know about this problem or they would not have sent it out. I'd follow along Josh Ollin or the PC Dev on twitter if you want to know when the next patch is coming out.

Did the first part right off, divers are up to date and it is a patch problem as Schlup said. It ran close to perfect before this last patch from loosers that don't test the product before they release it.

Josh olin is the community manager of treyarch and he is the one that lets people know what they are working on like patches and fixes. But he has been slacking lately.

This ever happen in any other games? It's obviously a graphics issue, and it freezes up that way I'm guessing. If you check out your Windows Action Center see if it's showing any graphics card crashes. If there are none then reinstall the game. If there are graphics card crashes then uninstall your graphics driver and try out the one Windows updates it with upon restart. Play a little with that and if all is well there then upgrade to the newest driver by AMD. There's just going to be some trial and error that needs to happen to figure it out.

So a reinstall is probably the way to go then, you'll have to try and and let us know if it worked or not.

Try this, i know this is going to sound weird but do it and let me know if it helped, i was getting crashes/freezes and i realized that every time i was playing with a friend i wasn't getting a freeze or a crash and it was because when i was talking to him on skype i would lower my volume so i can hear him so now i lower my in game volume to half and it doesn't freeze, i haven't tested it out too much but i was crashing every like 10 minutes and after i did it i played like 6 games in a row of HQ and nothing happened.

OK I will give that a try. By the way you are the first person I have heard of using Skype in game. Let your friend know about BPN and then he can get on TS with all of us.

He sort of is in BPN its just, i like skype better because i dont have to hold down a button and it eliminates all the background noise and you dont hear people breathing into the mic like you do in vent or ts, anyways sir-diealot i got something that might help fix your game, at least it fixed my game so no harm to try.
In your config: r_multithreaded_device "0" --- change the 0 to 1 r_multigpu "1" --- change the 1 to 0 snaps "20" --- change the 20 to 30
Do this in your config not your in game cmd, because it resets by itself if you do.
Let me know if it helped.
