Just a bit of a heads up, the non-expanded WoW will get you to level 60. Burning Crusade will allow you to get to 70 and access to The Outlands, Lich King to 80 and access to Northrend, and Cataclysm level cap is 85 and access to level 80+ lands.

You know i hope they do something about that, 10 years from now they are going to have like commercials that say GET World of Warcraft now! and play TOday and in small words they are going to put other 14 expansions not included.

They do, it's called the Battle Chest, but you don't save much money outside buying them all separately. The nice part about it is that you can spread your purchases out, get the original, then when you hit lvl 50 or 55 then get BC, then when you hit 65 get Lich King, then when you hit 75 you can get Cata. Leveling up that far is sure to take a couple months unless you are really hardcore.

Yeah you are right, excpet for the fact that every time they release an expansion they make it easier to level up and it takes less and less time to level up, 1-60 vanilla wow took 3 to 4 months and now it takes like a week or less.

Yes, so essentially you are buying the expansion packs for $30 just to raise your level cap, because you will blow through the 8-12 levels in less than a week and not really experience the content you pay for.
They really should address this with a new battlechest package, because if somebody decides to start playing wow, the battlechest, expansions, and a gamecard together cost $150 (before tax)
How the game manages to grow, idk lol

The battle chest only includes vanilla and BC, and you save 10$ if you buy that rather than getting them seperate

I bought the vanilla upgrade because I wasn't REALLY sure if I was going to like the game well enough to commit to a long term subscription to the game & the 10 day trial isn't long enough for me(in my condition)to to decide. I do agree that there should be a new Battlechest available with ALL the expansions & guides etc included for those new players who are sure about their long-term commitment to WoW at a reasonable discount, maybe 25% or such.
I am enjoying the game enough so far to invest $20 & if they were to have another super sale on the other expansions before i complete the vanilla portion i'll probably bite! BPN has made my experience just great so far. If it weren't for all you ppl. I may not have continued beyond the trial. You've all been a great help!
btw, my "condition" is that I am handicapped with a spinal disease that causes me extreme pain & sometimes I just can't sit up for long periods so at times i miss a period of time when I'd really love to be playing but just can't. I don't usually miss an entire day of gaming but I do spend a few hours laying in bed staring at monitor wishing i was able to be gamin'!
....................Griz.
Now I'd better get off here & actually DO some gaming!!

Griz I know the feeling of wanting to play games and my/your body not allowing you to do it. I was in a car accident 9 years ago and have had to take Morphine and Percacet along with other medications for pain every day since. Many times I have had to tell members that I have to take off for a bit until my meds kick in. We have a great and understanding bunch here and I am sure them will understand you not being on or getting off when you need to just like they have me.

That makes me feel better. I want to be as active as possible. Knowing that someone understands exactly what i go thru with the pain is a big bonus. I also take oxycodone(percocet without the cut)to supplement the morphine but there are many times that NOTHING helps. :

I did not realize that there was a difference between the Percacet and oxycodone, he switched me to that a few months ago, I thought it was the same thing.

I'm sorry if i confused u my friend. They are exactly the same drug except that my oxycodone has no extra ingredients like the Percocet has. Percocet has Acetaminophen added. My dr. prescribed the pure oxycodone for me because of concerns with my liver. I drank a lot when i was younger. Acetaminophen is the generic name for Tylenol which can cause liver damage if u have a history of alcohol abuse. Oxycodone & Percocet are generally prescribed for short term "breakthrough" pain suffered between narcotic pain reliever doses. Sort of a bridge to get u to your next dose.
I hope this explains the difference for you..............Griz.
ps, I am not a dr. This is just how it was explained to me in my particular case!!

Glad you're Liking WoW, Grizwold. I played Wow a few years ago and I wasn't impressed. A former co worker bough me Cataclysm as a Christmas gift so I installed it, and started playing just because I thought it was rather mean not to use a gift. I must admit, I was impressed with what I've seen. I might even re-up my subscription after the game card runs out. Working on two Characters, before taking a break for year end at work and moving, but I moving through the content pretty quickly. I have a lvl 33 Worgen Hunter and a lvl 28 Draenei Pally. If you ever need someone to run with you, I'd be happy to tag along after things calm down, moving is just oh so much fun.

Thanks for the offer Nic! I've played a lot of ftp mmorpg's over the years & when they closed the server for the last one after i had invested $600 in their cash shop i decided that a good ptp was the way to go. it's much cheaper in the long run. i tried a free trial of wow years ago but i was just lost trying to find my way around all alone. Finding BPN was the best thing that could have happened for me. You all are a great bunch of ppl!! That's why i am hanging around this time.
I know what you mean about moving. it's a terribly labor intensive process not to mention the emotional drain on you. Are you excited about getting settled in your new place? i hope the transition goes smoothly for you & you have a little time to relax before returning to work............Griz.

Its on the beta stage so you don't have to pay for anything as of now, but they are releasing the game in about a month and a half which means that money will be involved but you can still play the game without it.

Yeah, my bet is that they will sell tanks and tank upgrade for money. Which is good and bad, good if you want to spend the money and bad if you don't.

About all of the ftp's i've played have been playable without paying but if you want to keep up & be an*elite* player sooner or later you will be in the cash shop, drooling over the mounts & gear saying to yourself "well, just this once..........!" Yeah, RIGHT!! Not with this old obsessive/compulsive idiot!! lmao!!!............Griz

Just wanted to mention that mounts or companion pets from blizzard are ok but anything else purchased with currency outside of WoW (cash money) is considered cheating (WoW gold, WoW gear, etc) Blizz states it as cheating and so does BPN. Just wanted to put that out there in case you get a wild hair.

It'll never happen Schlup! I've never cheated in a game in 25 yrs. & i'm not about to start now. if it ain't for sale in the game, i ain't buying it!!! Game sponsored cash shops are one thing, 3rd party cheats are quite another!!
Thanks for the advice though............Griz.

Just to clarify, the $37.50 real life money referred to what PlayOMG's cash shop coins would convert into in us dollars. for example; one cash shop horse costs 375 omg coins. 375 omg coins would cost me $37.50 us dollars.
That's how these ftp's make their money. PlayOMG sells omg coins. OGPlanet sells Astros. gpotato sells gpotatoes.
In actuality there is no such thing as a "free to play" game. You can download the client & stumble along with dropped gear & whatever you can buy from npc's with ingame currency but you'll take forever to get anywhere. If you have a compulsive personality these games can be very dangerous to your budget, whereas Blizzard isn't pushing you to buy anything except the game & expansions. Plus your subscription fee of course. For me it's a no-brainer. I just wish i had done the math sooner!!
I only got really hooked on one ftp game(NEO Online). Thankfully it was a "fail game" & they shut the server down before i went broke!!

World of Warcraft has an upfront subscription, its not a free to play game so it doesn't have a cash shop except for a few things that aren't needed at all which are server transfer, race change, faction change, and name change if i am forgetting one let me know, but anyways those are the only things you need to pay for,but you don't actually need them, and Schlup WOT will have tanks for sell as a cash but only premium tanks that are already elite which means that they can already gain experience for both your tank and main tank but only way to use the experience is by switching more gold to experience and the tanks that are going to be able to be bought by gold are very bad tanks that most people wont buy, they will have gold for sale to cover costs for premium and if you want to buy gold to convert experience from one of your elite tanks or covert gold into silver to be able to reach your next tank.
