How to perform a Trace Route

Trace routes can be very useful in diagnosing a network issue. When we ask members to submit a trace route, just follow these steps:


Start > Run > enter in "cmd" > enter in "tracert www.bulletproofnerds.com" > Hit enter.

The trace route will now begin. Once it is finished left click the top left corner > Edit > Select all > Hit Enter.

Then you just have to paste your results. For security reasons you may want to remove your name and the IP Address of the first few hops. Below is an example:

Don't type the www just use 'bulletproofnerds.com' this goes for all websites when doing a tracert.
