I only have a 500 gig drive and it is taking forever and it also seems to never find anything wrong. I am using Microsoft security essentials. Also having a problem watching video's they do not load right and when they finally do load they still pause like they are buffering. I got Netflix free trial and can't watch a movie at all on the PC and don't have a fancy TV that I can watch them on either.

How much data is on your 500GB drive?  If there is a decent amount then 12 hours doesn't seem like out of the norm.  I've had scans last well over 24 hours.  As for your video problem, I would try using a different video playback program...though I can't think of the other decent ones atm

Hard telling with so little info.  My recommendation is to get VLC http://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-windows.html and use it instead, see if that works or fixes the issue.

Is it only Netflix you are having a problem with? Can you watch flash videos on other websites like Youtube?

No youtube unless I turn it down to 240 and even then sometimes it does not work. Can't watch them most places.

Maybe someone else can help out:

The problem Sir is having is that when he watches a video with Flash the video loads and then buffers, but after buffering for a bit it stops buffering. And the only way to get it buffering again is to move the slider bar just past where it stopped. I tried uninstalling Flash, Reinstalling Flash, disabling the Realplayer add-on, disabling all add-ons, using Chrome, and deleting cache, but nothing worked. I did some searches of "youtube videos stop buffering" to find out that others are having the same issue. But, I was unable to find a solution.

I've not run into the issue before, so the issue isn't with Netflix, it's with online videos that are played with Flash.  But he could for instance put a DVD movie in and watch that just fine?  And when he watches Netflix he's using the new VLC player I linked above and it's still having issues?

If it's a flash issue I'd recommend going here and doing this http://www.youtube.com/html5

Which will switch from flash over to html5 so long as you are logged into youtube while watching videos.

The issue is with buffering. It's like the flash player starts buffering the video and then forgets that it needs to buffers so it just stops buffering.

Jon I popped a DVD in and it played fine. I also have some additional information.

I called the cable company because Grill noticed some problems with my bandwidth and some other stuff. To my shock and amazement they admitted right off that they are seeing problems and it may be with my modem. They added something to the account that is monitoring it in 15 minute increments and they are bringing a new modem just in case they have to replace this one. I have been downloading fallout 3 for 2 days now.

Ok so we've pretty much confirmed this is a flash issue only.  Go to that link and start using HTML5 instead...

Yes it seems to be, until it is windy again lol Only messed up for maybe a minute while the cable guy was here then it was fine til he left. I restarted the PC and then a notification came up telling of a new adobe update and I installed that as well.
