So my birthday is this Friday, last year I purchased the gaming laptop for myself, this year it's time for a new computer build.  Some components are out of stock but hopefully they'll be in sooner than later.  I kept a couple of things in mind for this computer build, first, I love my current computer case so I will be reusing it, second, get the very best out there, do your research, and get the highest performance without sacrificing quality and dependability.  Budget was not considered on this build.

Motherboard: ASUS P9X79 DELUXE LGA 2011 Intel X79 ($380)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131799

CPU: Intel Core i7-3930K Sandy Bridge-E 3.2GHz SIX-core ($600)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116492

Hard Drive: OCZ Vertex 3 VTX3-25SAT3-120G 2.5" 120GB SATA III ($190 each X 2 = $380)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820227706

RAM: G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (4 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1866 ($135 each X 2 = $270)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231496

Graphics Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 590 (Fermi) Classified 3072MB 768-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 ($750)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130693

CPU Fan & Heatsink: Thermalright Archon Rev A ($75)
http://www.amazon.com/Thermal-right-archon-armor-copper/dp/B004D1VULU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1321989358&sr=8-1

Power Supply: ENERMAX Platimax EPM1200EWT 1200W ($320)

Yes I remember. I was just comparing the performance per dollar of the two cpu's. I did a lot of research & from it I considered the 2600k to be the best on the market, which it was at that time. However, as I stated previously, I may have to change my opinion after taking future-proofing into consideration. I hadn't seen the 3930k at that time. I'm not a big Intel fan but I decided to do an Intel build this time while I wait for the new iteration of the Bulldozer to come out next fall. :-P

I have the Frio in this machine Yankee. It's a MONSTER with both fans installed. It's a close fit even in my HAF 932 case but it'll sure move some air!! ;-P

Yeah, I saw that one, the i7 3930K Sandy Bridge-E absolutely spanks it benchmarks.  It's a newer chip though so it's to be expected.

It's not about looks, it's about performance, plain and simple.  Plus the fact that it's in an enclosed case and nobody will ever see it, so it really doesn't matter what it looks like.

Yeah, pretty much apples & oranges. The BM's for the 3930K weren't out when I did my pricepoint comparison. I bow to the new performance champ(which technically is the 3960K)but pricepoint is still close. :-P
