So as many of you already know I bought a Phenom II 940 about 6 weeks ago.  I ran it at stock speeds (3.0Ghz) for the first couple of weeks.  Then I overclocked it with a built-in overclocking template to 3.3Ghz and let that run for about a month.  Tonight I decided to step it up a notch which required me to manually overclock the chip with settings of 220.00 x 16.5.  I settled on 3.63Ghz for now and will let this run for a while to make sure there are no issues.  Temperature seems fine, which it should since I have not yet had to bump up my CPU voltage.  I think I'll run this speed for a couple weeks and then try to get to 3.8Ghz.  Once I do that and it runs stable for a while I will go for my goal which is 4.0Ghz.  I'll keep you all posted in my journey...wish me luck and if anybody has any questions please let me know.

Well I had to back it down a little bit...couldn't run stress tests without BSOD.  So I'm at 3.5Ghz and can run stress tests.  I tried lots of different combinations tonight and the outlook seems bleek that I will be able to reach 4Ghz.  I can POST at 4Ghz but can't boot into Windows...maybe if I were better at overclocking I could figure it out but I can already see it's going to take a long time to figure it out.

Yea getting that much overclock can be tricky, you just have to tweak here and tweak there but eventually you should get it.... I have faith in you Schlup   Grin  I overclocked a 900mhz Tbird one time to 1.8 but took me forever...

I have a 900Mhz Tbird!  I could only get it to 1000Mhz...what settings did you use?
