Hello, My boy seems to be having a problem with CSS, he will be playing and then the computer will go black and freeze up. He then has to restart the cpu. I tried defraging css and even did a system restore to an ealier date. Seem to help for a day now its doing it again. I am beyond and answer or fix now other than doing a complete restore and trying that. Any ideas?Huh?

Sounds to me like either a video card problem or CPU overheating......Wat are the specs of the computer?  First try turning the graphics as low as they will go (If you havent tried this already) and have him play for a while and see if it does the same thing.

It was my original computer before I built this one, I cant remember all the specs, has a biostar motherboard, 2 gig ram and something like a 7900gForce video card. It wont even load css now, loads steam then soon as it tries to load css, it freezes up. computer works fine other than that. Am about to just do a complete restore/reformat.

Try to uninstall CSS and Steam, then reinstall both of them.  Also, virus scan and monitor the temps like DTrain suggested.  If all that works out then swap the video card out with a different one and if it still does it your video card is bad.

I think you meant if it no longer does it, correct Schlup?

No, I meant if all that works out without any problems then he needs to swap video cards.
