Does anybody have any info on a good radar detector or better yet a good radar jammer/scrambler?  I need to replace an old Cobra that has been around for about 12 years.  I think I want to go the jammer way this time...tired of having to slow down.

I heard Whistler made a good one, but I have never owned one. On a side note, I was told by the guy who owned it that it only jams for the first 3 seconds of detection, then it just detects.

At the speeds I'm doing, I'll be well past the cop in 3 seconds!

Note to self: Once it jams a radar smash the gas to the floor and don't look back!

Me too...one time when I was driving and I didn't have my license yet (I was 14) I was on a back county road doing about 20 over the speed limit.  I passed a sheriff and gunned it, he pulled a u-turn to chase me, I kicked it sideways around a couple turns after I got off the road and drove with it floored for about 20 minutes needless to say I never saw him again.

I was doing about 90 in a 55 and passed him going around a bend. I was lucky he had on coming traffic which game me time to hit the brakes enough to slow down and not skid and turn into a woods lot and across a field. Thank goodness for 4 wheel peel.

Not sure about this one Schlup, I know for a fact they are illegal in Alabama, South Carolina, West Virginia, and Virginia. I got stopped in every state from Alabama to Virginia except Georgia for it. $573 in tickets for "illegal detection device".

That may be, but you are still talking about outrunning the law...

Actually, as a Criminal Justice major, I am taking notes on this thread. It may just help me in my thesis, by showing how the average joe plans to attempt to elude law enforcement agencies, and what can be done to prevent such attempts. So please, continue Smiley

Wow you work in law enforcement? Then perhaps you shyould tell all those cops to follow the speed law themselves and that they cannot hand out tickets themselves until they do. They are the biggest speeders out there.

actually, they are not required to follow speed limit laws while in patrol units, just traffic control laws (stop lights, stop signs...). And even those are non-viable if the unit is in pursuit (must have lights/siren on unless undercover unit) of a suspect if they committed a violent or aggrevated crime.

IN most states unless they are in pursuit then they have to follow the speed laws., but they even disobey when they are in their own personnel vehicles and when they are pulled over they simply flash their badges and drive away. The most dishonest people you will ever meet work in law enforcement.
