ya know, believe it or not, I had a friend ask me tonight for my account info so he could "download Left4Dead from my account to his computer". I just laughed and blocked him. He was just an in-game aquaintance, so I am definatly not trusting him with my account.

Ok, so he sent you a link and you typed your username and password into some bogus site?  Either that or he sent you a link which then loaded a keylogger onto your machine in which case you have bigger problems than your steam account being compromised.  My next question is what security software you are running so I will never use that brand.

Yea don't ever follow a link from sum1 that you dont know or you think you know especially if it involves something that could risk all your personal info.  Like Schlup said, hope he didnt load a key logger on you computer
