    Alright, the PSU I was planning on buying i a 1000W for $260.  I found a 1220W for $150.

What are the differences between the two and what would you recommend.  I'm still leaning towards the 1000W.

The price on the 1220 is showing me it's $250...other than that the 1220 is gonna have more power...it has a smaller fan in it which typically means it's gonna move less air and be louder which means it might run a little warmer, but not by much in any of those catagories.  I would get the 1220 if it were me...it's a no brainer.  Other than the above, there is no difference.

Ok.. that supply is cool and looks great and probably performs well, but why spend that kind of money on a supply that has only a one year warranty?

There are better options.  If there is one thing that is critical in your computer, it is your power supply.  Most people don't consider it to be crucial and pick
a cheap one.  Or one that is flashy, expensive with short or limited warranty.  However they are hugely important.
A simple power surge can blow the supply and it can take other things with it.  It can be random.  A good supply is built to withstand that type of incident
and if not, you have a warranty to back it up.

We only build our systems with power supplies that have 3 yr warranties.  thermaltake is excellent. http://www.thermaltakeusa.com/Category.aspx?S=1169
Ultra is one that has a 3 yr, but if you register it, you get a lifetime. http://www.ultraproducts.com/

If a company makes a good product they will put their money where their mouth is.!!

I'll agree, those are both great power supplies.  I have always had good luck with CoolMax for the most part so I have used them but I will probably go with Ultra or Thermaltake for my next PSU that has to be 2500watts.
