**NOTICE - LAST CHANGED 01/08/2008**
TeamSpeak is a free chat client that runs in the background while playing online games. The client allows you to talk to people in channels. It is used to help with team play and to strategize in the game. Its also used to get to know BPN members and have some fun.
You can go to
www.teamspeak.com and download the client. The current version used for Windows is 2.0.32.60
When you first start TeamSpeak, you will need to add our server. To do this:
1. Click CONNECTION in top toolbar
2. Click CONNECT from CONNECTION
3. RIGHT click on white space and choose ADD A SERVER
4. Name the server BPN.
The first time you access our TeamSpeak, you will have to do so unregistered. You will need the TeamSpeak password. Please contact an admin to get this. The new server configuration will look like this:

**PLEASE NOTE: You will put in YOUR clan nick, not mine. Putting in my nic will get you banned in a very timely manner.**
Once the settings are in, you click the CONNECT button and you will log into TeamSpeak.
Now that you are in TeamSpeak. You will want to get registered with the server so that you can use your own password instead of the default one. The default password changes and with you being registered, you will not need it.
The first step is you have to be allowed registration. A server admin can grant you registration rights. You can find a server admin by the extension of ( SA ) beside their name, as shown below:

Once you have been granted rights to register, you can then click on SELF in the toolbar and select REGISTER WITH SERVER:

It will ask you to put in a password. Once you do, you will log off and change your login options a little to reflect your registration and log back in:

***PLEASE NOTE: You are now selecting REGISTERED, putting in your username and your registered password, NOT the default password.***
When you click connect to log back in, you will see an ( R ) next to your name.
You are now fully registered and setup for the BPN TeamSpeak services.
One last thing I want to cover are SETTINGS options:

TeamSpeak Setup How-To
The first settings are SOUND INPUT/OUTPUT SETTINGS. These are courtesy settings to help control how loud you talk as well as when you talk. The upper scroll bar, OUTPUT VOLUME, adjusts how loud your voice is. If you are speaking WAY too loud or soft, you can adjust this to accommodate.
The VOICE SEND METHOD is to voice activate your mic in TeamSpeak or use PUSH TO TALK. You WANT to use PUSH TO TALK.
Games tend to get out of hand and people start to scream. Worse yet, they scream profanity. If you scream profanity, you WILL be kicked from TeamSpeak. An easy solution, PUSH TO TALK. In the picture below, I have my mouse button 3 set. You can select anything by clicking the SET button.
The final part of these options is the LOCAL TEST. Clicking this button will test your final changes and allow you to make sure your button is working AND how you sound in TeamSpeak.

The next settings are the OPTIONS. The Options are settings to help TeamSpeak work better for YOU.
The first Options tab is SOUND DEVICES. If you are not hearing anything in TeamSpeak or getting anything, this is where you choose your sound card. Notice how I have two. This is because I have on-board sound as well as a Soundblaster sound card. If I had the on-board sound selected, I would not hear anything. NO, you can not have two sound cards running at the same time.
You also want DIRECT SOUND selected, not WAV. This will convert all talking to WAV file and play it back to you. Very poor quality and CPU intensive. I don't even know why its an option, its so bad.

The next option tab is SOUND NOTIFICATIONS. This option is what causes wav files to be played when people enter and exit TeamSpeak or certain actions are done. For smaller TeamSpeaks, this activated is not too bad. For large ones, its non stop wav playing. You can select other sounds to play than the defaults. You can adjust how loud you want these notifications as well as disable the notifications, as seen below.

TeamSpeak Setup How-To
The final two option tabs are BANDWIDTH and OTHER. I don't recommend changing them unless you really have to. Bandwidth controls how much bandwidth you are using. If you have a slow internet connection, adjusting this will help overall gaming performance. This will degrade voice quality and can cause delay and echoing.
The OTHER option are miscellaneous things for teamspeak, such as logging and blocking whispers. A whisper is a setting someone can do to talk to only you in a channel.
I hope you found this TeamSpeak Setup informative and get you up and going. There are many other options in TeamSpeak that are not covered. If you would like to know more, you can visit the TeamSpeak forums and website.
If you need any further assistance or something is still not working correctly, please feel free to contact myself or another admin.
