Sad. Islam teaches peace and that Christians are friends to Muslims, unfortunately peace is not always followed.

Well it honestly sounds like a little extra drama, I'm sure her parents aren't really going to kill her.  Probably there's more to the story than what we are getting from her.  You should post this over at Christian Crew and see what they have to say about it.

 Huh?

I'd rather be safe than sorry...

Qur'an (4:89) - "They but wish that ye should reject Faith, as they do, and thus be on the same footing (as they): But take not friends from their ranks until they flee in the way of Allah (From what is forbidden). But if they turn renegades, seize them and slay them wherever ye find them"

I've never been to the CC forums, but I guess I could post it there.  Undecided

Yeah, it's www.ccgaming.com

It just kinda sounds like this girl got in a fight with her parents because they wouldn't let her date that older boy or they wouldn't buy her the car she wanted.  Something like that, little drama queen girls do stuff like that all the time.  I could be wrong but how stupid would her parents have to be after she alerted everybody and their brother that she thought her parents were going to kill her.  They woul go directly to death row, it'd be an easy case too!

I saw an interview with her parents, and they seemed a lot more genuine and sincere than she does.  They were saying that it is ridiculous to suggest that they would hurt her and that the people she is staying with are brainwashing her.

I think it's just that she's probably going through a typical teen age identity crisis and rebelling against her parents.  "You just don't understand!! wah wah wah" but no tears??  Then she comes right out of that and starts talking normally again.  I'm just not buying it.

I'm sure this isn't the first time a kid converted from Islam to Christianity and I've never heard of anyone else being threatened by their parents for it.  Maybe it's happened, but if killing your kid is expected, then I don't understand why it was never exposed before now.

People make a lot of wild claims against Christianity as well.  A lot of Christianity's critics quote the book of Leviticus all the time in order to discredit the religion.  Leviticus says a lot of things that sound absurd in today's world, and they aren't in practice by Christians anyway.  I think similar things are done by those opposed to Islam or any religion really.

If she wasn't from traditional muslim family then I might agree with you Schlup... But with the history of "honor killings" committed by fundamentalist muslims I think the authorities should err on the side of caution. http://atlasshrugs2000.typepad.com/atlas_shrugs/2009/03/honor-killing-islams-gruesome-gallery.html Also, she is not just in danger from her family but from any hardcore muslim, as she said her blood is now Halal (lawful).

Muhammadan Islam & Apostasy Part 177 Small | Large

I realize that the dhimmi media with their political correctness have been trying to convince us that Islam is peaceful and wonderful, and that those who kill in the name of Allah are just a few extremist nuts. And many people believe that, I thought the same thing until I decided to look it up for myself. I know that verses can be taken out of context, so I thought I should learn a bit about the history of Islam and the life of Mohammad. The values of Islam are VERY different than the values of western civilization.

Katarn, no hard feelings but we're going to have to agree to disagree.  I have no desire whatsoever to learn anything about Muslim, Mohammad, or the values of Islam.  They have wronged our country over and over again, killed thousands of innocent Americans and I refuse to acknowledge anything about them.  Now I don't think that all Muslims are bad, but the ones you claim this girls parents are would be what I consider bad Muslims that don't deserve to live in this country.  I say give the girl back to them, if she dies or is killed then the courts of the United States will take care of making sure that both of the parents receive death penalties.

To lighten the mood... I visited a Mosque during a mission trip two summers ago. The people there were really friendly and the food was awesome! It was pretty cool that us visitors all had Biblical names which the Muslims liked. During worship, we sat in the back and watched them go through the different stances and prayers. There was tape on the ground to mark where to sit/ pray to face Mecca. You were not allowed to where shoes/socks, but the worship leaders said we could. However, we removed our shoes/socks to show respect. We also washed our hands and feet with warm water to "purify" ourselves.

I also got to visit a Sikh Gurudwara. Both men and women were allowed to worship together, but the women sat on the left, and the men on right. Sikhs are vegetarians, so I didn't like the food. I didn't want to be rude, so I forced myself to eat. Sort of like with Destro's chili. LOL. The Sikhs worship was very different from western ways. We also had to remove our shoes/socks, wash our hands and feet many times, and wear head coverings.

The one place we didn't get to visit was a Hindu Temple. Hopefully one day I can visit a Hindu Temple.

Anyways, I enjoyed the mission trip and would be glad to discuss more.

Ok Schlup,we don't have to agree. But let me say that I'm not the best speaker, and I don't always choose the best words to make my point.  Embarrassed I want to clarify what I meant, I just wanted to learn enough to counter the lies of the liberal media and the myth that Islam is peace and that if you criticize it you must be some sort of "islamophobe".

I like to know a bit about whats going on in the world, and to not just listen to the media and their leftist slant on everything.

Hey Grill, I know that not all mulims are bad and I don't want to leave that impression. but, it seems to me that the ones who more strictly follow their religion are also the ones wage jihad, or at least silently approve of those who do. My brother told me that when he was in Iraq he slept in that place as a bunch Iraqi troops, and that only one guy would get up in the morning to do his prayers and stuff. It just seems that if they are more casual about their religion they are more tolerant of others.

I hope I got my point across...  Undecided
